We’re thrilled to announce that State Road Hardware is officially sponsoring the Pro Rodeo at 5’B Arena on Palomino Mountain Ranch, August 8th and 9th. We’re honored to back the people who make our Appalachian home proud—seasoned riders, up-and-coming cowgirls and cowboys, and the families cheering them on. Our sponsorship is our way of celebrating the grit, grace, and true horsemanship on display.

Join us in cheering on these skilled riders and the traditions that bind our community together. We couldn’t be more proud to support local people riding toward excellence! We can't wait to see you there!

Here at State Road Hardware & Mercantile, we reckon there’s no better way to keep Appalachian spirit alive than by filling our shelves with one-of-a-kind treasures made by friends and neighbors. Our consignment corner brims with local artistry including: hand-thrown pottery that’s just right for your morning coffee, wire-bent and beaded jewelry that catches the light, and small-batch bath and body treats whipped up with love in a nearby kitchen.

When you choose to shop small, you’re doing more than buying pretty things. You’re helping a potter pay rent, letting a jeweler keep their workshop lights on, and allowing a soap maker to keep experimenting with new scents for your skin. Every dollar you spend here echoes back through our holler, supporting families, sponsoring local events, and keeping Appalachian traditions from fading away.

Our consignment shelves are honest and full, and right now we aren't adding any more vendors to give us the chance to shine a spotlight on the talented artisans already trustin’ us with their work. Please feel free to stop by and inquire about future vendor openings, though we’re not accepting new vendors at this time.

So next time you’re driving

through our winding mountain roads, pull off at State Road Hardware & Mercantile. Browse that consignment corner, find a gift that tells a story, and take home a piece of this place we all call home. Your support means the world—not just to us, but to every maker whose craft carries forward the heartbeat of Appalachia.

Nestled in the Appalachian foothills since 1949, State Road Hardware has always been family-run and community-driven. Today, we’re proud to launch our Original Logo T-Shirts—each one a wearable tribute to the generations of hardworking local people who have made State Road Hardware what it is today.

Our journey on cloth:

  • 1949: Paul and Maria White Cochrane opened on Klondike Road with young Grace, Mac, and Maureen in tow.

  • 1980: Don and Hazel Cochrane bought the store and, five years later, moved it to our current spot.

  • 1993: After eight years on the floor, Mike Park took ownership, growing the store’s offerings.

  • 2022: Lindsey Park purchased the store from her father, Mike, and in June 2025, unveiled our mercantile expansion.

Each tee features the hardware’s original logo in its classic form. It’s more than a shirt—it’s a piece of our shared history. Stop by, slip on one of these new tees in our cozy fitting rooms, and carry a bit of 75+ years of community spirit wherever you go.
